Holiday activities planned on OKC’s Paseo First Friday

The Paseo First Friday Gallery Walk in December is a holiday surprise.

While the Paseo’s First Friday Gallery Walk takes place every month, rain or shine, this December’s Gallery Walk (December 6, 6-10pm) promises some exciting new surprises for a district-wide holiday celebration!

Thanks to a sponsorship from OG&E, galleries and shops along Paseo Street will be lit for the first time ever with luminarias- a nod to the Paseo’s distinctive Spanish Revival style architecture. Paseo marketing committee chair Sandra Martin comments: “Luminarias were a natural fit because of their origins in the Southwestern United States. We are thrilled that between our local engineer, electricians and support from OG & E, they will be a reality this year!”

Our holiday display will also feature light-pole garlands—in a broad spectrum of colors— and a one-of-a-kind tree created by sculptor (and Paseo Pottery owner) Collin Rosebrook.

Not just a treat for the eyes, our First Friday gallery walk will also feature live musicians. Seasonal music will fill the streets from jazz musician Justin Young and strolling carolers from the Canterbury Choral Society.

For children and families, teaching artist Erin Latham will offer an interactive ornament-making art activity at no cost. This is the second year in a row that the Paseo Arts Association has offered a free ornament craft project, and we plan for this to continue each year.

In addition, many Paseo shops and galleries will offer special holiday exhibits, sales, and refreshments with perfect gifts for any age or taste. Please join us on December 6!

The Paseo is Oklahoma City’s historic arts district, featuring dozens of galleries, three restaurants and a handful of shops, all within walking distance. The Paseo Arts District is located between Northwest 30th and 27th Streets and Walker and Dewey.
