Nick Jonas, of Disney’s Jonas Brothers, after filming a gay sex scene for his role in Kingdom recently addressed long-standing questions about his sexuality.

Jonas told Britain’s The Sun:

“On Kingdom I have a sex scene with a guy. It is always this thing have I, has Nick? No. But it’s my lips, it’s my hands, it’s my body, even if I’m playing a character. So technically I have done that, so I wouldn’t say I haven’t, because that would be lying. But as me, Nick, I am very open about who I am and that I have nothing to prove. I know what I am, I’ve been honest about that.”

Jonas considers himself an ally to the gay community, though his role on Kingdom has drawn criticism from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community for gay baiting.

In a recent interview Jonas told Complex Magazine:

“The goal is acceptance on all levels— that should be the focus,” he continued. “I’ve gone to normal clubs, straight clubs, and I’ve gone to gay clubs, to party with my friends and fans. There’s no difference. I have nothing to prove. I’m very comfortable in my own skin and I’m thankful to have as many close gay friends as I have, people who have been so supportive in my life, and have always been there for me."

Jonas continues his role in the DirecTV drama Kingdom, and will release his new album Last Night Year Was Complicated June 10.
