Aces, bones or barn darts, it’s all for charity

Darts Over Oklahoma City, Inc. (DOCK) will host its first annual amateur soft tip dart tournament during the upcoming Labor Day weekend. “We are creating a fun and competitive event where dart players can meet other dart players, have a great time and also raise a little money for a local organization,” says DOCK President Jennifer Borsch.
The first annual event is scheduled for August 30 – September 1. Events and tournament play will be at Phoenix Rising, Finishline, Alibi’s, Partners, P Too Mix, and Tramps. They have received remarkable support from the community bars and players. “We have held several fundraising events, and the response has been awesome,” adds Stacey Brooks, DOKC Secretary/Treasurer. “We have sold Jell-O shots, held raffles and ‘Bring Your Own Partner’ tournaments and it has been a lot of fun and been very successful.”
Several soft tip dart teams play out of LGBT bars in Oklahoma City and in various other cities. Many of these players participate in local tournaments and travel to other cities, such as Dallas, Denver, St. Louis, Kansas City and Chicago for tournaments. Players from many other cities are expected to attend the Labor Day tournament. DOKC also invites amateur dart players to check it out and consider participating.
Information about the tournament, rules and registration is online at www.dartsoverokc.com. Entry fee is $25 per person. Teams consist of four players. Prize money will be determined closer to the tournament date. If there are any questions or if there are players looking for others to be on a team, they can be reached at dartsoverokc@gmail.com.
Darts Over Oklahoma City, Inc. (DOCK) is a non-profit organization. The Board of Directors formed the organization in March and includes Jennifer Borsch, David Slaton, Stacey Brooks, Lori Raines, Cheyenne Rosborough, Cathy Glover and Mike Moore.
