Russell Brand faces serious new charges

Russell Brand is now facing more charges of sexual assault-- including rape, according to The New York Times.

The 50-year-old comedic actor and YouTube host was already facing five counts in Britain for allegations from 1999 to 2005.

Brand pleaded not guilty in May to those charges.

The Times reports the two new counts are related to incidents with two women in 2009.

That brings Brand's sexual assault and rape charges to seven.

He's scheduled to appear in court in London on January 20.

At last check, Brand had not commented on the new charges.
