More journalists were killed, abused and subjected to violence in 2018 than in any other year on record, with those in the profession facing an "unprecedented level of hostility," a new report has found.
On Tuesday morning, Time magazine announced that its "Person of the Year" for 2018 was "The Guardians" -- a group of reporters, led by murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, seeking truth around the globe in the face of persistent attempts by governments and radical individuals to stifle their coverage and their voices.
Jared Kushner said Monday that the Trump administration is still working to determine all the facts surrounding the death of Jamal Khashoggi.
"Right now, as an administration, we're more in the fact-finding phase," Kushner, a White House senior adviser, told Van Jones at the CITIZEN by CNN conference.
Saudi Arabia said Sunday it rejected any threats of economic sanctions or political pressure over the case of missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi, adding that it would retaliate accordingly, according to a statement on the official Saudi Press Agency attributed to "an official."
President Donald Trump said Friday that he believes Saudi Arabia's explanation for the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and called the arrest of 18 Saudis "a good first step."
For a man with too much to say about too many things, President Donald Trump has maintained atypical restraint in the 17 days since since the dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi disappeared into the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul and was presumably murdered inside it by agents of the regime.
