The January Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) First Thursday reception and exhibit will showcase the art of Dave Muller in a show titled A Sense of Wonder… The show opens with a reception January 7 at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center, home of OkEq in Tulsa.

Muller is a recently retired geologist and photographer with a passion for wildlife and landscape photography. His photographs have been honored in local, state, and regional competitions. He has been an invited artist for the last two Tulsa MayFest Invitational Gallery exhibitions.

Muller lived in and attended school in Iceland long ago, and remains reasonably fluent in Icelandic several decades later – he has led photographic trips to Iceland, the desert southwest, and around Oklahoma’s Green Country, and he has lectured on a variety of photography-related topics at local and regional photographer gatherings.

This artist’s exhibit primarily focuses on the beauty in the natural world. Images in A Sense of Wonder… include canvas, metal, and traditional framed prints of landscapes and wildlife from Iceland, the desert southwest, and Northeastern Oklahoma.

The goal of Muller’s imagery is to encourage a sense of delight and awe in the beauty that surrounds us and to foster a sense of wonder at the magnificence in our world. His images capture details we tend to miss – things that we are not aware of or overlook.

“I hope that viewers of these images will have their spirits buoyed and their senses sharpened as they anticipate and prepare for their future encounters with the natural world,” said Muller of his work.

The show begins with a reception on Thursday, January 7 from 6-9 p.m. where there will be a door prize drawn of the artist’s work; the show continues throughout the month. The Dennis R. Neill Equality Center is located at 621 E. 4th Street in downtown Tulsa.

Oklahomans for Equality/OkEq is Oklahoma’s oldest gay rights organization. OkEq works for social justice and full inclusion for Oklahoma’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) citizens and their allies. For more information, see www.okeq.org.
