Shenanigans at the Capitol

Freedom Oklahoma is the state's largest advocacy organization.

Friends-

The marriages of all Oklahomans fell under attack at the Capitol today. Instead of focusing on issues important to all of us, our elected representatives decided to dismantle the institution of marriage. They passed House Bill 1125, a bill that modifies the marriage licensing requirements of our state. Putting ALL couples - gay or straight - at risk of losing hundreds of federal rights and protections if they choose to marry in Oklahoma.

Freedom Oklahoma strongly opposes this legislation but we need your help. We have been up at the Capitol lobbying to protect the institution of marriage for ALL Oklahomans and we have had some success.

Will you make sure that we can continue our efforts and stop this bill in the Senate by committing $10, $40 or $120 to defeat HB 1125?

In the past six months, the freedom to marry has been the law of the land in Oklahoma, and not a single marriage has been at risk - until now, and it is our elected officials who are creating the danger.

This has been a tough Legislative Session so far but we are making progress. Even though the odds were stacked against us, legislators are listening and we are gaining new allies everyday.

Help us continue to make progress and fight for equality for all Oklahomans, by joining us next Tuesday - March 17 - for our 2nd lobby day of the session.

It’s important your voices are heard and we keep working to defeat harmful legislation.

In solidarity,

Troy Stevenson
