Sooner State Softball season kicks off

Spring is here, and for many gay athletes that means softball! The spring season for the Sooner State Softball Association begins March 30 with teams competing in three divisions: C, D and E. These divisions allow all players and teams to play against similar teams while keeping competition fair and fun.
“We have teams that are very competitive and teams that are just out for fun. There’s a place for everyone regardless of skill level, age or competitiveness,” says League Commissioner Joe Moore. “Ultimately, we want to create an environment where all members of our community can have a good time. Even if you’re not able to play, everyone should come out and watch. It’s a great time.”
Teams playing in the Sooner State Softball Association compete annually for a berth to the Gay Softball World Series and also play in tournaments throughout the country. Oklahoma City will be hosting its tournament, the Sooner State Softball Classic, June 13-15, and Tulsa will be hosting its tournament, Tulsa Up All Night on April 18.
Anyone interested in playing, sponsoring the league or getting involved should contact Brett Baldwin, Director of Recruitment and Public Relations at okiebrett@yahoo.comor check us out online at www.soonerstatesoftball.com.
