Tom Guild supports Employment Non-Discrimination Act

(Edmond, OK) The U.S. Senate will be soon considering the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would protect every person against workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. According to recent polling, 68% of registered voters support federal legislation that protects gays, lesbians, and transgender Americans from discrimination in the workplace while an overwhelming 8 out of 10 voters believe this practice is currently illegal.Oklahoma businesses are not currently precluded from firing someone simply because of their sexual orientation. The laws in 29 states contain no such restriction.Tom Guild, Democratic candidate for Congress in Oklahoma's Fifth District, released the following statement:

“I strongly support ENDA that is currently under consideration in Congress. Every Oklahoman and American deserves the opportunity to be free from unfair discrimination in the workplace,” said Tom Guild. “This is the kind of issue that should bring us together – arbitrary discrimination in the workplace is wrong and the time is past due to eliminate this injustice. We need leaders who are listening to fair minded Oklahomans and Americans who are calling for protection against unfair workplace discrimination.”
