Oklahoma City’s Sisu Youth has received a grant from the United Parcel Service (UPS) Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS. The grant of $10,245 will be used for training and trauma-informed practices to support homeless and at-risk youth.

“As Sisu continues to experience major growth, it is so important that we train staff to ensure proper, supportive care for the young people we are serving,” said Sisu Executive Director Jamie Caves.

“We are dedicated to providing services and resource connection to help ensure that this experience with homelessness is brief and one time for the youths who enter our program. Nothing will better enable this objective than training.”

Sisu Youth provides shelter and care for homeless and at-risk youth. Sisu’s mission is to ensure that youth experiencing homelessness have a safe place to sleep, the security to dream, and the support to make a positive impact on the world.

The funds received by the UPS Foundation will make a significant impact on the skills and services provided by Sisu staff and volunteers. The contribution will directly impact homeless youth working to find safe shelter, resource connection and housing stability.

“The UPS Foundation is honored to support Sisu Youth’s efforts to end youth homelessness,” said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation and chief diversity and inclusion officer at UPS. “Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference in the global community.”
