15th Annual deadCENTER Film Festival to open with ‘Best of Enemies’ and ‘Rolling Papers’

Oklahoma City – For the first time in its 15-year history, deadCENTER Film Festival will roll-out two official Opening Night films: “Best of Enemies,” at 6pm and “Rolling Papers” at 8:30pm at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, 415 Couch Dr.
The 15th Annual deadCENTER Film Festival will take place from Thursday, June 11 through Sunday, June 14 at five locations in downtown Oklahoma City.
“Best of Enemies” is a feature documentary directed by Robert Gordon and Oscar winner Moran Neville that follows William F. Buckley, leader of the new conservative movement, and Gore Vidal, leftist novelist and polemicist, as they battle for the soul of America in a series of debates hosted by ABC during the 1968 Presidential Conventions. The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Running time: 87 min.
“Rolling Papers” is a feature documentary directed by Mitch Dickman about the Denver Post’s Ricardo Baca, the world’s first marijuana editor of a major newspaper. Policy news, strain reviews, parenting advice and edible recipes are the new norm on a new beat: pot journalism. Running time: 79 min.
Before and after the screenings, deadCENTER pass holders can meet local and visiting filmmakers, Oklahoma Film ICON award honorees and festival supporters at the official Opening Night cocktail party sponsored by OG&E. The party is come-and-go from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the rooftop at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, 415 Couch Dr., and features live music by Born in November and complimentary wine and beer. Must be 21 to enter.
The deadCENTER Film Festival is Oklahoma’s largest film festival, recognized as one of the “Top 20 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” according to MovieMaker magazine. The festival highlights 100 independent films, including comedies, dramas, documentaries and short films from Oklahoma and around the world, and offers a wide range of expert panel discussions on the art and business of filmmaking as well as networking opportunities at parties and special events.
All Access passes are available online for $150 ($75 for students), and gains the holder priority admission to every film, party, panel and special event. Individual tickets may be purchased for $10 at the door prior to each screening. Admission priority is given to pass holders.

Opening Night screenings at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art will close with documentary short “GrappleHabit: Oklahoma City’s Addiction to B.L.O.W.” and “The Real Enemy,” a feature documentary about a public Black Mass held in OKC, from 9:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.
Screenings will also be held at Harkins Bricktown 16, 150 E. Reno Ave., with Comedy Shorts from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., “Hollis,” a narrative feature filmed in rural Oklahoma from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Rated R Shorts from 9:15 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.
The official after-party will be held from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at Fassler Hall, 421 N.W. 10th St. in Midtown. This party is free and open to the public.
