A&E: Kristin Eyfells "Famous Faces"

(Tulsa, OK) Tulsa’s LGBT friendly MEME gallery-Tulsa is honored to present 20 paintings from Kristin Eyfells “Famous Faces” series June 21-July 20, 2013.
The general intensity and high caliber of this artist and her visual thinking is, perhaps, most strikingly revealed in what might be termed the focal points of every painting in this exhibit: “thinking” eyes. These infinitely diverse compounds of sensations generate and constitute, along with the materializations of her more comprehensive feelings for different personalities, the overall substance contained in her large series of paintings entitled “Famous Faces.”
Eyfells was born and raised in Iceland where she graduated from The Commercial College of Iceland. In 1947, she graduated from The Rudolph Schaefer School of Design in San Francisco, California. Kristin also studied psychology and art for some time at Hofstra College, Long Island, New York. In 1962, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and in 1963 was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, both from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Kristin H. Eyfells took part in several group exhibitions in the United States, Iceland and Denmark. Kristin died on July 20, 2002. Her work has been on permanent display at the Eyfells and Eyfells Studios and Sculpture Ranch since 2003, the Benini Sculpture Ranch and Galleries, and at the Sculptors’ Dominion in San Antonio, all of which are located in Texas.
The MEME gallery-Tulsa opened to the public on April 12, 2013. Described as “breath of fresh air” in the ever-expanding Tulsa art community, the MEME gallery-Tulsa supports emerging and established artists, collectors, and public audiences by providing a venue for the access, celebration, and advancement of contemporary art.
Opening reception for FAMOUS FACES by Kristin Eyfells will be held June 21, 2013, 5:30-9pm at the MEME gallery, 2022 E. 11th St., Tulsa. The opening reception is free and open to the public.
