Tulsa Fringe celebrates Leslie Jordan’s humor in the premiere of "Mamas’ Boys: Leslie & Me"

Following a warmly received performance inspired by Leslie Jordan last year, Tulsa performer and storyteller Pat Hobbs returns to the Tulsa Fringe Festival with an expanded original production, Mamas’ Boys: Leslie & Me.
Part storytelling, part live music, and wholly heartfelt, Mamas’ Boys: Leslie & Me weaves together the humor of Leslie Jordan with Hobbs’ own life experiences to explore the mothers, siblings, friendships, and chosen family who shape who we become.
At its heart, the production asks a simple question: What do we inherit from the people who raise us?

Through laughter, music, and deeply personal stories, Hobbs reflects on family, growing up in the South, sibling bonds, and the enduring impact of love and loss during the AIDS epidemic. The result is an evening that is both deeply personal and universally familiar, inviting audiences to reflect on the people whose voices still echo in their own lives.
“Leslie Jordan had an extraordinary gift for finding humor in everyday life, even in its most difficult moments,” said Hobbs. “His stories inspired me to look more closely at my own family, my own memories, and the people who shaped me. This show is about all of them.”
Presented as part of the Tulsa Fringe Festival, Mamas’ Boys: Leslie and Me celebrates storytelling as a way to preserve memory, build connection, and remind us that even our most personal experiences often become the stories we share.
