The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that Martin Blackwell has been indicted for pouring boiling water on two gay men.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Blackwell, 48, is facing eight counts of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated assault. He faces up to 80 years in prison, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.

Also, Blackwell, who is being held in the Fulton County jail, is facing an FBI hate-crime investigation over the incident, which happened in February in College Park.

The mother of one of the victims is Blackwell’s girlfriend. She shared the Buffington Road apartment with her son.

The Gayly reported that Blackwell told investigators he was disgusted with Anthony Gooden's relationship with Marquez Tolbert and poured "a little hot water on them."

Tolbert was hospitalized for 10 days and had to undergo surgery. Gooden was released from a hospital three weeks ago.
