The Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble proudly announces its 2013-14 concert season, bringing the best classical and modern chamber music, from the finest musicians in our state, to the music-lovers of central Oklahoma

Artistic Directors Chad Burrow and Amy I-Lin Cheng have crafted another outstanding program of five regular season concerts, starting in September and concluding in April. The Spring Festival, held in June, will conclude the 2013-2014 season:

  • Concert 1 – September 16-17, 2013 – Opening night concert, “Souvenirs for an Archduke,” features the return of concert pianist Gloria Chien.
  • Concert 2 – November 4-5, 2013 – “Sonata Evening,” features five, two-instrument sonatas.
  • Concert 3 – January 20-21, 2014 – To chase away the cold of winter, the New Year will bring the lively concert “Shanties, Songs and Serenades.”
  • Concert 4 – March 10-11, 2014 – As winter turns to spring, Brightmusic will spotlight guest cellist Sophie Shao in “Transcendental Doxology.”
  • Concert 5 – April 7-8, 2014 – “And Legions Will Rise” will close our regular season concert series with a feature of five works.

In June, Brightmusic holds its third Spring Festival, “The Music of France.” Festival concerts will include works by Ravel, Debussy, Berlioz, Messiaen, Milhaud, Saint-Saëns, Faure, Poulenc and others. Festival dates, venues, programs and musicians will be announced later in the season.

Brightmusic will give two performances of each regular season concert. The 2013-14 venues will remain the same as last season: Monday nights at All Souls’ Episcopal Church at NW 63rd and Pennsylvania Ave., and Tuesday nights at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral at NW 7th and Robinson.

Adult admission to each concert is $15.00 (cash or checks only, please). Student admission is free of charge (please bring your student ID).

You can save money and make a charitable contribution at the same time by reserving a Season 11 Membership for $75.00 per person. You’ll receive a personal Season Membership card, which will admit you to all regular season and festival concerts.
