Brightmusic presents Austrian & German 'Masterworks for Winds'

Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble presents performances of their second concert on November 17 and 18.

(Oklahoma City, OK) On November 17-18, 2014, Oklahoma City’s own Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble will present two performances of the second concert of their 2014-15 season, “Austrian & German Masterworks for Winds,” a musical panorama featuring some of the most outstanding compositions for wind ensemble from the 18th through 20th centuries.

The works on the program are: (1) Bach, Two Chorale Preludes (Nun komm der heiden Heiland, BWV 659, and Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott," BWV 720) (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn); (2) Hindemith, Kleine Kammermusik, Op. 24, no. 2 (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn); (3) Karg-Elert, Jugend, Op. 139A (flute, clarinet, horn, piano); (4) Zemlinsky, Humoresque (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn); and (5) Beethoven, Quintet for Piano & Winds, Op. 16 (piano, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn).

Six Brightmusic musicians will be appearing at this concert: Parthena Owens (flute), Lisa Harvey-Reed (oboe), Chad Burrow (clarinet), Rodney Ackmann (bassoon), Kate Pritchett (horn), and Amy I-Lin Cheng (piano).

The performances will take place at 7:30pm Monday, November 17, at All Souls’ Episcopal Church, 6400 N Pennsylvania Ave. (at 63rd Street), and at 7:30pm Tuesday, November 18, at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 127 NW 7th St. (at Robinson).
