Celebrate Spring Diversity Weekend in Eureka Springs

(Eureka Springs, AR) -- The first city in Arkansas to officially endorse same-sex marriage has scheduled the  three annual Diversity Weekends for 2013. The first will be April 5-7. Thousands of gay and lesbian out-of-towners and their families and friends are expected for the celebration.

Live music at some of the city's hottest nightspots, a hotel pool party, karaoke, a G-rated Public Display of Affection in Basin Spring Park downtown, assorted DJ dance parties and even a live heterosexual wedding presided over by a drag queen minister are just some of the festive events that will keep visitors amused and entertained all weekend long.

As usual, the city's Domestic Partnership Registry, which is open to non-residents in committed relationships will be available at the Eureka Springs City Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. on Friday, April 5. The fee for a DPR Certificate, signed by city officials, is $35. The Registry has already attracted more than 600 LGBT and straight couples from more than 55 Arkansas communities and 15 other states.

For those still planning 2013 vacations, Summer Diversity Weekend is scheduled for August 2-4 and Fall Diversity Weekend for November 1-3.
