deadCENTER Film Festival to host free Fall Break film seminar

The deadCENTER seminar is open to all high school aged students and will cover every aspect of how to make a movie in Oklahoma, including choosing topics for films, writing screenplays, acting, auditioning for films, film production, available crew positions, film education programs in Oklahoma, film festivals and distribution.

Oklahoma City (Oct. 5, 2015) – The deadCENTER Film Festival will host a free film seminar for Oklahoma City area high school students from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Individual Artists of Oklahoma, 706 W. Sheridan Ave. 

The seminar is open to all high school aged students and will cover every aspect of how to make a movie in Oklahoma, including choosing topics for films, writing screenplays, acting, auditioning for films, film production, available crew positions, film education programs in Oklahoma, film festivals and distribution.

The seminar will also include a tour and demonstration by Oklahoma City-based production company, Lampstand Media. The goal is to give every participant an overview of the entire film making process.

The film seminar will be led by deadCENTER Director of Programming and Education Kim Haywood. Haywood has been involved with deadCENTER Film Festival for more than 13 years, starting as a volunteer, becoming the festival’s first employee, promotion to head of operations and now head of programming and education.

Haywood also produced a rock opera film called “Rainbow Around the Sun” that premiered at the SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas.
