TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A former Tulsa County Sheriff's Office deputy has been arrested on a complaint of first-degree rape involving an 11-year-old girl.

The Tulsa World reports that 33-year-old Josh Wood was arrested at his Tulsa home and booked into the Wagoner County Jail on Tuesday. He posted $100,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 24.

The girl told authorities that Wood assaulted her last month as he was driving her home from his house, where she had been playing with other children.

Wood began working for the Tulsa sheriff's office in 2013 as a detention officer and eventually became a deputy. He resigned on Jan. 11.

An attorney for Wood declined to comment on the case Wednesday.
