If you know me, you know I love my furry boys... yes that too, but for all intents and purposes this month, the four-legged kind. My two Standard Poodles, nine year old Shah and six month old Caspian, are big fans of treats. Scotty however, isn’t a fan of all the grains and other junk that is typically loaded in ready-made pet treats. That’s why I make my own!

Summer is around the corner and if your fur baby loves ice cream, my Frozen Apple and Peanut-Butter Treats will be a hit. They’re easy breezy, you can freeze them in those cute star or heart shaped ice trays you’ve been dying to use, and have a happy best friend all spring and summer long. Happy May, and Happy Pooch!

Frozen Apple and Peanut-Butter Pet Treats

Ingredients:

1 quart Vanilla Yogurt*

1/2 cup all natural (no sugar added) Apple Sauce

3 tablespoons peanut butter

Instructions

1.      Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl, and mix until light and fluffy.

2.      Spoon the mixture to the top into fun shaped ice trays, and freeze overnight.

3.      Pop out a treat when needed. If your pup is a licker, place in a bowl. If he’s a real ‘chomper’ do one treat at a time - dogs get ice cream headaches too.

*Some pets cannot digest dairy (i.e. bloating, potty issues, etc.). If you are not sure how he handles dairy, give one treat and “keep an eye on it,” if you know what I mean.
