OKLAHOMA CITY - The Donnay Building, once destined to be torn down to make way for a Braum's, is saved from extinction with its purchase Friday by two local businessmen.

The newly formed Classen Circle LLC, owned by Josh Thomas and Scott Mueller, closed on the $1.3 million purchase of the iconic mixed-use building at 5114 Classen Blvd. just three months after Braum's abandoned its plans in response to public protests.

The block is home to the decades-old HiLo Club, the Drunken Fry, Charlie's Records and the Classen Grill.

The building also has unused apartments and some retail frontage available for redevelopment.

“We're keeping the HiLo and everything as is,” Thomas said. “We're meeting with architects to see what can be done. We want to clean it up at first and get a good thorough evaluation of the property.”
