The LGBT community of South Africa now has a rugby team that they can support. The Jozi Cats have made Johannesburg, South Africa their home; their goal is to build a team and eventually take home the Bingham Cup.

"The truth of the matter is that many of our players don't feel like they can be openly gay and be a rugby player in South Africa," said Jozi Cats chairman Teveshan Kuni. "So we started Jozi Cats as a space where they could be both. The club is somewhere that players can play social and competitive rugby in a safe and non-judgemental environment."

The group has also started up advertising campaigns using some of the hostile, homophobic slurs that are normally directed at gay men in South Africa by turning them upside down and owning them.

The team is sure to be turning heads and bringing in lots of ecstatic fans.
