Jimmie Freeman, or Fritz Capone as he was known around the country, carried a presence that lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Fritz came to Wichita in the mid 1980’s to work for Lynn Copeland at Our Fantasy Complex. He presented a weekly show; had many national drag connections and hosted the Miss Gay Wichita Pageant. This yearly event has been a coveted title among local performers. In 2007, he and Caliente Amor, Miss Gay Wichita 2006, created DragOn Productions. Together they worked to continue the yearly tradition.

In 2010, the LGBT community suffered the tragic loss of Fritz Capone. Just as he would have wanted, Caliente Amor (a.k.a. Charles Gonzales) continued on with Fritz’ ideals and tradition. DragOn Productions is now owned and operated by Charles and Derick Gonzales. 2013 will be the third year they have presented Miss Gay Wichita.

The Miss Gay Wichita Pageant 2013 will be held at Our Fantasy Complex, 3201 S Hillside St, Wichita, KS. The pageant begins at 9:30pm March 22. You can find the event on Facebook by searching for Miss Gay Wichita 2013. Competition is open to any contestant who resides in a state bordering Kansas.
