Today, women of all ages, ethnicities, orientations and creeds descended upon capitals across the nation and in DC.

Men were there, too. “We are men who love women,” said Oklahoma Representative Jason Dunnington.

Attendees came to stand in solidarity against what many say was an election cycle filled with misogyny and the demeaning and vilification of women.

Though this was an event for women’s rights, all people believing in a future of feminism and equality were welcomed with open arms.

Sheridan Conrad marched in Oklahoma City because her grandmother marched for the same reason in 1913.

“It’s 2017,” commented Dalia Estrada who was in Washington for the march. “It’s about time everyone has the same rights.”

The Women’s March on Washington is a grassroots effort comprised of dozens of independent coordinators at the state level. The event hopes to have sent a message through democratic means to those in power that, according to the organization, “there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.”
