Sisu Youth, an Oklahoma City based nonprofit homeless youth shelter serving youth ages 15-22, received a $2,500 donation from OKCMAR, the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Association of Realtors. The donation is to ensure proper care and coordination of services for students and youth most in need.

Sisu Youth was founded in 2013 by a woman who could not accept that there were no services for homeless youth in Oklahoma City. Out of that drive a community and a mission were born to serve the most vulnerable homeless victims.

The money allows Sisu Youth the ability to continue services and serve homeless youth with shelter, access to clothing, laundry services, hot meals, hot showers, and access to a case manager who can connect them to desperately needed services in the Oklahoma City area.

“It’s so awesome that realtors who spend their day making a living selling houses to people are also turning around and giving back to the community that isn’t fortunate enough to have a place to call home,” said Jamie Caves, Executive Director for Sisu Youth.

Sisu Youth began in 2014 serving homeless youth one day a week as a drop-in center and is now open full-time, seven days a week. By the end of 2018 Sisu Youth provided 4,142 services to 208 individual homeless youth. The shelter has a capacity of 18, 14 youth ages 18-22 and 4 youth ages 15-17.

The mission of Sisu Youth Services is to ensure that young people experiencing adversity have a safe place to sleep, the security to dream, and the support to make a positive impact on the world.
