Tulsa show by Blue Man Group is a must see

by Mark Roe
Like visitors from a strange and distant planet, Blue Man Group has invaded Tulsa for a five night run at the Performing Arts Center.
Founded in 1987 by Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton; the group first burst on the scene with a wild and avant-garde mix of music, light, motion and comedy.
While the Blue Men explore our world with a mute and child-like curiosity, they share their satirical view of society and cultural mores. The audience is pulled into the Blue Man universe where PVC pipes make the most amazing sounds and the one glance from a Blue Man can convey more pathos then a thousand words.
Long-time fans of the group will recognize many of the special effects but the show has been updated to reflect the modern obsession with the dehumanizing aspects of social media.
The electronics have undergone an upgrade and there are plenty of surprises to keep the audience in awe.
For the uninitiated, Blue Man Group is an experience. It is an aural and kinetic marvel. Be warned: if you are in the first few aisles, wear your choice of protective gear. Also, you will find yourself waving your hands in the air like you just don’t care.
Blue Man Group will be performing in Tulsa nightly through Sept. 15. Then it is on to Lawrence, KS for two shows Sept. 16th and 17th. Discounted student rush tickets are available one hour before show times for all Tulsa performances.
