OKC’s deadCenter Film Festival announces 2017 dates, opens call for entries

The 17th Annual deadCenter Film Festival will take place Thursday, June 8 through Sunday, June 11, 2017 in downtown Oklahoma City. Filmmakers may submit their films for review.

Films will be selected in the following categories: narrative feature, documentary feature, narrative short, documentary short, student film, Oklahoma film, and art and experimental film.

Submissions can be made online through submissions platform, FilmFreeway, at www.deadCenterfilm.org.

“Last year was our most competitive year ever, with more than 1,200 films applying, including Grand Jury Prize winners from Sundance and SXSW and an Oscar winning short,” according to Director of Programming and Education Kim Haywood. “We can hardly wait to see what awesome films apply to screen in 2017.”

The early bird deadline is Oct. 31 and entry fees vary based on the type of submission: $40 for narrative and documentary features, $25 for narrative shorts, documentary shorts and Oklahoma films, and $20 for college and art and experimental films. High school films are free to submit.

deadCenter selects a broad slate of films that caters to all tastes. Of the 1200 films submitted in 2016, 104 were selected for an official screening. The festival added a distribution forum in 2012 to help filmmakers connect with sales agents and distributors.
