OKC ballet to open art show at boathouse

Dance images such as these are also featured in a calendar. Photo provided.

Photographer Shevaun Williams will open the Oklahoma River's first art Exhibition at the new Chesapeake | Central boathouse art gallery, benefiting the OKC Ballet. The event, the 5th annual Architecture of Dance, is January 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The exhibit, also titled Architecture of Dance, features stunning black-and-white images of individual Oklahoma City Ballet dancers executing a remarkable, seemingly impossible leap, stretch or position.  As the images imply, Shevaun Williams and Associates has worked with the Company extensively.

"This project with Oklahoma City Ballet has certainly been a labor of love. My early desire to be a dancer when 'I grew up' comes full circle as the images combine two things that give me great joy, dance and photography," said Williams. "It is also extremely rewarding to create with such talented artists."

Tickets to the event are $100 per person ($75 tax deductible) and $200 per patron at http://okcballet.com/architectureofdance/ or by phone at 405-843-9898.

All photos will be available for sale as framed art prints. The CHK| Central Boathouse is also open to the public Monday through Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m.  No admission is charged to view the show, which closes April 1.

The dance images are also featured in a calendar that debuted at last month's performances of The Nutcracker.  For more information and to purchase framed prints or calendars, visit www.okcballet.com
