OKC's Paseo District hosts First Friday Sept. 5

Oklahoma City, OK  – The Paseo Arts District’s First Friday Gallery Walk for September will take place Friday, September 5 from 6:00-10:00p.m. and Saturday, September 6 from 12:00- 5:00p.m. 20 galleries featuring more than 75 artists will host opening receptions, promising something for everyone.

The band Heartbreak Rodeo, a powerhouse acoustic rock duo that combines original, soulful songwriting with classic cover tunes that everyone can enjoy will be playing on the park from 6:30-8:30p.m.

Also, featured at Paseo Art Space (3022 Paseo), will be our annual Photofest, a juried photography exhibit that takes place each September and is open to all types of photography-based artwork including mixed media work that features photography. Through this exhibition, the PAA strives to represent and spotlight the depth and diversity of contemporary Oklahoma photography. Cash awards are given for three categories; one Best in Show, two Merit Awards and two Honorable Mentions. All of the work is for sale and can be purchased the night of, but will remain in the exhibit until the end of September.

Each First Friday, Paseo galleries offer special themed exhibits, refreshments, guest artists and a variety of entertainment opportunities.

Paseo, Oklahoma City’s historic arts district is where art and history come alive. Dozens of galleries, three restaurants and a handful of shops stand in distinctive Spanish Mission Revival style buildings, all within walking distance. Once you visit for a First Friday Gallery Walk, you will want to linger for the Paseo’s unique atmosphere. The Paseo Arts District is located between Northwest 30th and 27th Streets and Walker and Hudson.
