OKC's Winds House merges with Homeless Alliance

Nonprofit merger emphasizes OKC's collaborative spirit
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Homeless Alliance announced that the agency will absorb the operations of local nonprofit Winds House. The Homeless Alliance has served Oklahomans experiencing homelessness for 21 years through multiple housing programs, Oklahoma City’s first Day Shelter, community partnerships and more. Winds House has operated two supportive housing properties in the Oklahoma City metro for 39 years.
Both organizations have been longtime partners through Homeless Alliance’s HOPWA Housing Program.
The Winds House and Winds Family House are the major programs of the AIDS Support Program, Inc., providing transitional housing to those in need.
“Winds House has been a provider of stable and safe housing for Oklahomans for many years,” said Meghan Mueller, CEO of the Homeless Alliance, “We are honored to carry that important work into the future and are thankful for the opportunity to continue their work of providing supportive services for people living with HIV/AIDS.”
“The services and support provided to Winds House clients throughout the years have been made possible through the invaluable partnership of the Homeless Alliance,” said Camden Maxwell, Board President of Winds House, “This transition marks a significant opportunity to expand the mission of Winds House. By integrating into a larger network of services, we will continue to provide transitional housing for individuals in need, while also broadening our reach to serve even more members of the community than was possible as a small, volunteer-led organization. Although the Winds House name will be retired, its mission and legacy will continue through this new chapter of service.”
Community members interested in supporting this and other programs of the Homeless Alliance are invited to follow the organization on social media and to sign up to receive email updates on their website.
The Homeless Alliance, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, helps coordinate and improve services for people experiencing homelessness in Oklahoma City. The Homeless Alliance has several housing programs for families with children, veterans and people who are chronically homeless, publishes the Curbside Chronicle and operates the Westtown Homeless Resource Campus which includes a Resource Center, a housing complex and a Day Shelter that serves an average of 400 people each day.
