OkEq “First Thursday” art opening and exhibit features Scott Goodpaster and Tom Clarke
Artists Scott Goodpaster and Tom Clarke will be featured in the November Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) showcase and exhibit of local artists at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center. The show will begin with a reception on Thursday, November 1st from 6-9pm and will continue throughout the month.
Goodpaster, a native Tulsan, graduated from Edison High School and the University of Tulsa; he began painting the summer after he finished law school. A love for gardening that was instilled by his grandfather segues into his paintings that often feature flowers or landscapes. While working on a study of the Van Gogh, Scott’s good friend and artist Mark Lackey encouraged him to continue on his path towards painting. Scott’s love for gardening and the natural world have schooled the growth of his talent into a painted garden of visual delights.
Clarke has been painting abstract and impressionist paintings for 15 years. He is self-taught in his genre; never having had an art class. His mother had the most profound effect on his appreciation of art through her mentoring and approval. He feels his gift for painting avoids ego by painting from his heart. Tom has been incorporating multimedia in his paintings this year by adding naturalist prints to his canvas.
The show begins with a reception on Thursday, November 1st, from 6-9pm at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center, located at 621 E. 4th Street in Downtown Tulsa. There will be a door prize drawn of the artist’s work; the show continues throughout the month. www.okeq.org
