Oklahoma Artists Invitational presents annual “Afternoon of Art”

Promotes stroke prevention and treatment
Oklahoma Artists Invitational presents their annual “Afternoon of Art,” a free community exhibit to present both a pleasant afternoon of artwork, and an opportunity for education about stroke prevention and treatment.
The show is a free charitable community outreach to support stroke prevention education and provides the opportunity to hear an update on stroke prevention and treatment.
Held in the sun-dappled atrium of the Mercy NeuroScience Institute, the exhibit showcases the work of Oklahoma Artists Invitational with 24 talented Oklahoma artists who have converted oils, acrylics and canvas into large and small gateways to real or imagined places.
New this year is the addition of two talented sculptors and two creative jewelry artists. Their art combines beauty, charm, color..., and the potential for improving the community’s health.
The exhibit is a fundraiser for the Mercy Stroke Treatment Program, and the Mercy Foundation, Stroke Education program. A portion of the proceeds helps fund the lifesaving work of these organizations.
Artwork exhibited will include something for every art collector: landscapes, still life, portraits, street scenes, flowers and modern art. Styles vary from the more traditional and impressionistic, to colorful contemporaries, to the playful impersonations of Santa with his personalized list, all in varying sizes.
In addition to viewing the artwork and having an opportunity to buy it, Richard Vertrees Smith, M.D., Medical Director of the Mercy NeuroScience Institute and Mercy Comprehensive Stroke Center will be speaking at 2pm both days, providing the latest update regarding the treatment of acute stroke. Education is vitally important as stroke has touched many families.
Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City is the only non-academic community hospital Comprehensive Stroke Center in Oklahoma and the second community hospital in the nation to receive The Joint Commission designation of Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Mercy Hospital Comprehensive Stroke Center provides state of the art acute stroke care 24/7 with a team of highly specialized neurologic physicians, nurses, technicians and administrative staff.
The show will be Saturday, Nov. 2, 11am-4pm, and Sunday, Nov. 3, 12:30-4:30pm in the atrium of the Mercy NeuroScience Institute. No reservation is needed to enjoy art at this aesthetically appealing event. Help touch the lives of others as well as have an educational and entertaining experience.
