Planned Parenthood Great Plains responds to Fifth Circuit ruling restricting Mifepristone access

Today, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling blocking Mifepristone from being mailed to patients. Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood Great Plains is evaluating operational impacts and remains committed to providing medication abortion where legal, including via an alternate regimen if necessary.
“As a physician, I should be surprised that America’s most reactionary court thinks it knows better than medical providers or patients themselves. But I’m not,” said Dr. Iman Alsaden, chief medical officer of Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood Great Plains. “Despite the relentless attacks on abortion, we’ll keep doing what we do every day: respect our patients’ autonomy and continue to offer safe and effective health care.”
Mifepristone has been used for decades as a safe and effective medication in abortion care and miscarriage management. Patients routinely prefer medication for abortion to in-clinic procedures because of the medication’s ease of use, privacy, and a preference for non-procedural care.
