Sarah Hearn awarded Paseo Arts FEAST grant

The Paseo Arts Association is thrilled to announce the winner of Tuesday night’s Paseo FEAST event: Multimedia visual artist Sarah Hearn.
Hearn explores the idea of “Symbiotic Cooperation” literally and figuratively, working with the public to collect over 200 separate specimens of lichen over the past two years. These lichen have been identified, drawn, photographed, and even documented in large lithograph prints. With work that merges art and science, Hearn is fascinated with the process of symbiosis lichen need to thrive. She plans to use FEAST funding to pursue this project further, working with a lichenologist create a comprehensive field guide to Oklahoma lichen.
FEAST (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics), is a unique micro-funding program for artists of all disciplines: At each FEAST event, five artists present their projects to a group of diners, who each pay $30 for dinner and a ballot. The artist with the most votes earns a grant based on the evening’s ticket sales.
In total, over $7000 in artist grants have been raised and given directly to artists through the five Paseo FEAST events to date. The PAA and FEAST committee looks forward to increasing this number, and helping more artists bring their visions to life.
The artist deadline to apply for Paseo FEAST #6 is September 10. Information on FEAST and how to apply can be found here: http://paseofeast.wordpress.com/artist-info/apply/ or by calling Jennifer Barron at the Paseo Arts Association, 405-525-2688.
