AIDS Walk hosts RED Rooftop 2013

Mark your calendars for June 13, 2013, when one of Oklahoma City's premier downtown rooftops will be transformed into an outdoor cocktail and dance party. The event will feature a live DJ, live entertainment, hors d'oeuvres, a full service deeply discounted bar, and a few more surprises.

RED Rooftop 2013, hosted by James Siderias, Scott Hines, and Lisa Pitsiri has been designed as an affordable entertainment alternative that allows all sectors of the community to contribute to an HIV cause in an upscale setting.

"We really want to cater to a larger demographic. So many people want to help the HIV community, but they can't afford to pay the price for tickets to some of the more well-known events,” said Siderias. “RED Rooftop 2013 gives people a chance to help and have a great time doing it.”

The mission of the AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City is to build awareness about HIV/AIDS and to raise funds to support the work of nonprofit organizations that provide HIV/AIDS direct care, support services, and education.

From the AIDS Walk Oklahoma City website: Since 1998, AIDS Walk has distributed more than $635,000 to HIV/AIDS nonprofit organizations serving the greater Oklahoma City community through direct health services, HIV/AIDS education and prevention and community awareness. Thousands of people living in our community have benefited from the funds raised through the AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City.

In 2012, nine nonprofit organizations in the Oklahoma City metro area received grants from AIDS Walk OKC for the 2012 calendar year. The grants were awarded during the World AIDS Day Remembrance Service at Expressions Church on World AIDS Day, 12/01/12. Grants were given to the following organizations:

-        Latino Community Development Agency

-        Other Options, Inc. (and Friends Food Pantry)

-        Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma, Inc

-        RAIN-Oklahoma

-        Red Rock Behavioral Health Services

-        Northern Lights

-        Be The Change

-        Winds House ASP

-        Expressions Community Center

AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The RED Rooftop 2013 event will begin at 8:00 p.m. at 1015 N. Broadway (Allied Arts building), with tickets selling for $10 in advance, and $15 at the door. All proceeds benefit AIDS Walk OKC.
