Cleveland County Sheriff expands gun permit service, calls Obama actions ‘vile’

Cleveland County, Oklahoma, Sheriff Joseph K. Lester in Tuesday authored a letter to “All Citizens of Cleveland County” saying due to increased demand for Self Defense Act applications (i.e. gun permits) he is expanding the hours for processing applications.

Lester also gratuitously disses President Obama, saying, “With the recent and continuing attempts by the current leader of our government and his iniquitous minions to further attack our constitution and our personal freedoms…”

The sheriff is relocating the processing of applications to the Cleveland County Detention Center.

According to Oklahoma City’s Fox25 TV station, “A sheriff's office spokesperson wouldn't comment on these statements, but she did say the department has been overwhelmed by gun permit applications over the last several months.

"’Back on January 13th we processed 75 applications between 1 and 3, we set records that day. Once we saw the increase was going to be significant we knew we had to come up with a better way to serve the public,’ said Megan Jackson, spokesperson for the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office.”

The sheriff closed his letter with another assault on the President, saying, “If our numbers [of license requests] increase, as I expect they will due to the disgusting and vile actions by our current president, I will take additional steps to insure [sic] we meet the growing demand.”

OKC’s KFOR report on the sheriff’s action said, “Some people are really upset, but it's not that they disagree people have the right to carry guns.

“They said, as an elected official, the sheriff should respect the president no matter what their differences.

“Others we spoke to said it's freedom of speech.”

Comments on the Facebook page “Mary Fallin, America’s Worst Governor” were not so charitable to the sheriff.

One reader said, “Nothing like certifiable paranoid delusions with our elected officials especially in law enforcement! This State is rapidly and irredeemably going down the sh*tter! It's time for anyone with a brain to think seriously about abandoning ship!”

Another said, “Iniquitous minions...hmm. Almost sounds seditious. All because a black man is president I think. I almost feel like arming myself against all the Tea Party morons. Ignorance now trumps knowledge, conservative values now trump constitutional rights. I wonder what constitution this asshat reads or if he's ever read it? And if he is advocating sedition then he's committing treason. And certainly by putting more weapons into the public hands one wonders if he is serving the best interests of public safety.”
