Dan Deacon, Parker Millsap headline ACM@UCO Metro Music Fest

Dan Deacon (L) and Parker Millsap (R) will headline ACM@UCO's Metro Music Fest.

The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) has secured Dan Deacon, electronic music iconoclast, and Parker Millsap, Oklahoma-born Americana virtuoso, as the AT&T Main Stage headlining acts at the seventh annual ACM@UCO Metro Music Fest set for April 8 in Oklahoma City’s Bricktown district.

The AT&T Main Stage is located in Lower Bricktown on the southwest corner of Reno and Oklahoma avenues. Millsap will take the stage at 9:15 p.m. and Deacon at 10:45 p.m.

The dual performances are the main event at ACM@UCO Metro Music Fest, an annual festival with more than 60 student bands performing across multiple venues in Bricktown for an afternoon and evening of free music entertainment. A complete lineup of all artists performing at the festival will be released closer to the event.

Deacon is best known for his interactive live shows that often involve audience members. The Los Angeles Times has called his shows both “frenzied and inspiring.”

Deacon has opened for well-known artists like Arcade Fire, Miley Cyrus and Deerhunter. In addition to live performance, Deacon has garnered success as a recording artist. He has released eight solo albums including his most recent, Gliss Riffer, in 2015.

Millsap, a singer-songwriter and native of Purcell, Oklahoma, is best known for a rootsy sound that blends elements of blues, country and folk. He was named one of the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Artists of the Year in 2014 following the release of his self-titled album.

Millsap has opened for numerous artists including Patty Griffin, Old Crow Medicine Show, Shovels & Rope and Lake Street Drive. His new album, The Very Last Day, is scheduled to release on March 25.

“This year’s Metro Music Fest headliners go from one end of the spectrum to the other. Dan Deacon is at the forefront of the indie EDM movement and Parker Millsap is leading the charge of Okies in the modern Americana movement,” said Scott Booker, CEO and executive director of the ACM@UCO.

“I feel that these artists, along with our other headlining acts, represent the diversity of musical tastes and talents of the ACM@UCO students. They will be great artists for our students to perform with and learn from.”

In addition to the main stage headlining acts, this year’s Metro Music Fest will feature notable Oklahoma artists as headliners throughout the festival. Musicians include Colourmusic, Travis Linville, Josh Sallee, Camille Harp, Tallows, Chase Kerby, Mike Hosty, The KFOR Channel 4 Band, Adam & Kizzie, Helen Kelter Skelter, Bowlsey, Fiawna Forté and Sex Snobs.
