Ellen makes tribute to her wife in support of marriage equality
As the fight for marriage equality worldwide continues, celebrities and activists are calling on countries to “open their minds” so to speak.
Currently, Australia’s battle for marriage equality is causing quite a stir amongst the LGBT+ community worldwide.
In response to the impending decision, Ellen DeGeneres wanted to let the world know how important marriage equality is by paying a thoughtful tribute to her wife, Portia de Rossi, who happens to be Australian.
“I appreciate my wife every day,” DeGeneres said in a tweet. “I can’t imagine calling her anything else. #WifeAppreciationDay #AustraliaMarriageEquality #VoteYes”
In addition to this tweet, DeGeneres has advocated on behalf of LGBT+ individuals in Australia via social media in the past.
Voting will continue in Australia until November 7th and results will be released November 15th.
