Artist Jared Boyd said he creates his art from intuitive and thoughtful design. Guests of the April exhibit of local artists at Tulsa’s Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) will be able to see his art and see for themselves.

The show, Every Reason to Feel, opens on Thursday, April 5, from 6-9 p.m. at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center, home of OkEq, and will be on display throughout the month.

“My art is my response to the environment around me,” said Boyd. “I create from intuitive and thoughtful design. The sources of my inspiration are many and include emotions, thoughts, meditations, music, nature and life.

“I utilize a variety of mediums including acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, gesso and oil pastels. My process is to create many layers on the canvas as to reveal the history of the piece. My intent is for the layers to illustrate a journey on the canvas that is both visually appealing and deeply meaningful. I believe that art brings great meaning to life. I hope that others can find great meaning in art as well.

Boyd named this show Every Reason to Feel to highlight the importance of walking healthfully through various seasons of life. He said this collection holds a deep meaning for him and is reminiscent of a journey through seasons that have been both joyful and painful.

Every Reason to Feel opens with a reception on Thursday, April 5 from 6-9 p.m. at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center, 621 E. 4th Street in downtown Tulsa where a door prize of the artist’s work will be given away. The exhibit will be displayed throughout April.
