Kristin retired after a highly decorated Special Forces career and then came out publicly in 2013 and in a large media fashion. The doc follows Kristin's busy present life as her family, friends and military relations mostly accept her and learn in the process but it also gives viewers a very vivid view of her impressive military prowess.

Of course Kristin has faced bigotry as well. The strength of Kristin's personality is obvious and she makes clear that her high public profile is yet again one more mission to accomplish. There is a balance to Kristen's struggles in that somebody who spent so much time and energy physically defending American ideals with personal blood and sacrifice then continues on by practicing the pursuit of happiness with her exploration of identity.
