HIV Wellness Retreat

This years HIV Wellness Retreat is August 24-27. Deadline to apply is June 1.

Keryn Scott was a Missouri native and an HIV/AIDS Outreach Worker and HIV Educator. After a long struggle with HIV/AIDS, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Intestinal Cancer in 2011.

“Knowing her end was near, Keryn began signing her emails and letters with Have a Grateful Day,” the Grateful Day Foundation’s website reads. “Her outlook on life had changed to be grateful for each and every day she had left.”

Scott passed away January 5, 2012, peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. Her memory lives on every year through the Annual HIV Wellness Retreat put on by The Grateful Day Foundation.

The Grateful Day Foundation is excited to announce the dates for this year’s HIV Wellness Retreat. This year’s retreat will be held August 24th - 27th. Deadline for application is June 1.

“We are looking forward to another fun and informative retreat this year,” say organizers. It will be the fifth annual retreat.

The Grateful Day Foundation seeks to fill gaps in services in Oklahoma's HIV/AIDS wellness community through collaboration with partner organizations, providing transportation to those in need, and hosting an Annual HIV Wellness Retreat.

This retreat is designed and planned around the needs of the clients served in the community. The HIV Wellness Retreat will host a number of workshops throughout the weekend as well as several fun things to do at the retreat.

The Grateful Day Foundation Inc. was founded by Justin Flowers, Chuck Courtney and Shana Cozad, after the 2013 HIV Wellness Retreat.

Inspired by the continuous efforts of the Community of Hope UCC, Flowers was determined to carry the torch when the church was no longer able to organize the event. Early in 2013, he began raising funds. Cozad and Courtney were approached to help organize several fundraisers at local bars and restaurants. Through these grassroots efforts, they were able to completely fund the 2013 retreat at Sky Ranch Cave Springs in Quapaw OK.
