Ezakiel Mutua, the head of the film classification board, told Standard Media, “when it comes to protecting children from exposure to bad content we are resolute and unapologetic. Gay content will not air in Kenya, period.”

In the interview, he also comments on the sanctity of family as an institution, and shares that "any other doctrine" [than that between woman and man is] "heresy and a travesty."

Kenya has strict laws against same-sex relations and zero protections against discrimination. Kenya has prosecuted nearly 600 people in the LGBT+ community between 2010 and 2014.
