On Tuesday, The Gayly reported the tragic news of the murder of Brooklyn BreYanna Stevenson.

Stevenson’s mother, Vivian Gaffney Stevenson, launched a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for her daughter’s funeral expenses.

"As you all know, my daughter, Brooklyn BreYanna, was senselessly murdered on Monday, November 27.  I can tell from the outpouring of love that I have been receiving via Facebook, Instant Messenger, phone calls and texts that Brooklyn was loved by many and will truly be missed by all of you.  Many of you have asked if there is anything you can do to help, so we are setting up this account so that you may be able to assist us in funding Brooklyn's homegoing. Any amount that you can give will help, as we were not prepared in any way to have to be doing this at this time," Gaffney said.

$4,065 of the $5,000 goal has currently been raised.

The community has offered donations and words of support for the Stevenson family.

"Last night at Finishline, we made a last minute decision to help the family. We made $25 at Finishline and then we went over to the Copa and made $25 there. We are going to challenge all the other bars to do one number during each show for the rest of the week and give the money to Brooklyn’s mother," Martin said in an interview with The Gayly.
