PFLAG Norman offers scholarships for high school seniors

PFLAG Norman, a support, education and advocacy organization, has announced it will award two $1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Norman; including public, private or home-schooled students.
Applicants for a scholarship must be a resident of Norman and committed to moving equality forward for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in our society. Applicants also must be furthering their education or training in an accredited program within the year following graduation and the scholarship will be applied to their tuition and fees.
The PFLAG 2015 Scholarship application is available at Norman high schools, on the Facebook page of PFLAG Norman, or by contacting the organization at help@pflagnorman.org.
PFLAG has also announced its officers and board of directors for the 2014-2015 year. Officers are Steve Davis, president; Jason Martin, vice president; Alison Gilliland, secretary, and Ta Rena Furr, treasurer. The board consists of Autumn Hobbs, Brian Eddins, Debbie Howard, Holly Nevels, John Covaleskie, Kay Holladay, Melanie Adams and Mitch Randall.
PFLAG Norman will hold a support group at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 1801 W. Brooks St. The group meets the second Thursday of every month and the meetings are open to the public.
