Pollard presents Always…Patsy Cline

(Guthrie, OK) The Pollard Theatre Company's 29th Season kicks off with a celebration of a legendary music icon and an extraordinary friendship. Besides being a delightful tribute to the renowned country singer, Always…Patsy Cline is based on the true story of the friendship between Patsy and her most devoted fan, Louise Seger. This American classic will play at The Pollard Theatre, August 21 - September 12.
Named one of the most produced musicals in America according to American Theatre Magazine, Always…Patsy Cline has enjoyed great success all over the United States. Combining humor, sadness and reality, Always...Patsy Cline offers fans of Cline a chance to look back, while giving new fans an idea of what she was like and what she meant to her original fans. With tunes that made her famous - Anytime, Walkin' After Midnight, She's Got You, Sweet Dreams, and Crazy - to name a few, you are guaranteed a wonderful evening. "Always...Patsy Cline. Always a hit," said the Biloxi Sun Herald.
Director, Timothy Stewart (Company, Passing Strange, Rent), states "My parents were fans and so Patsy Cline's music was part of my childhood. So, I too became a fan of Patsy Cline. I was excited about directing this show, not only because of the music, but the story of these two very strong women characters and their friendship. Most people know Patsy's story, but Louise's story is also worth telling and I hope we have done that successfully. Kara Chapman (Patsy) and Jodi Nestander (Louise) have done an outstanding job and I truly believe the audience will come and ‘hear’ Patsy and be thoroughly entertained."
Other members of the creative team include Todd S. Malicoate (Music Director), Michael James (Scenic and Costume Design), Michael Long (Lighting Design), Timothy Stewart (Property Design) and Jared Blount (Sound Design).
Always…Patsy Cline runs August 21 through September 12 at the Pollard Theatre. Tickets are $30 with senior, military, and student discounts available.
