"Tony!" New book combines professional boxing with a gay sub-theme

"Tony!" is a tale of hope and hype, and greed and manipulation in the world of professional boxing.

(Tulsa, OK) – Tony! A Cautionary Tale About What Rumors Can Do, by Tulsa author Bobby Sentell is about Tony Tenkiller, a handsome but naïve young amateur boxing champion from a small town in Oklahoma. When he turns professional, a vicious and persistent rumor that he is gay threatens his personal life and career. How Tony handles the rumor as he works his way up to a lucrative world title bout is the heart of this adult story.

It is a tale of hope and hype, and greed and manipulation in the world of professional boxing.

Tony stood up when the bell sounded for the twelfth and final round. The world title was on the line. Tony’s lavender trunks were covered with blood. Both fighters met in the center of the ring and touched gloves before unrestricted warfare broke out. Both corners advised for a knockout. Both fighters were determined to score one.

Tony had dreamed of winning the world title since he was a child. Life had thrown him some punches that he didn’t see coming, but his dreams never included a round like this.

The story is set at some vague point in the recent past in Tulsa and its suburb of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Perhaps the Tulsa police will not like how they are portrayed, but the author says “that this is how they behaved in the past.”

The story is aimed at a general audience, especially the 18-34 “new reader” market, but there are enough realistic fight scenes to satisfy die-hard boxing fans. The book is published through iUniverse and received a pre-publication “Editor’s Choice” designation.

Tony! is available online through Amazon.com and in bookstores.
