OkEq gallery calls for 2017 proposals

OkEq hosts the opening night reception on the first Thursday of each month. Photo provided.

The OkEq gallery at the Dennis R. Neill Equality center in Tulsa, Oklahoma is now accepting proposals for the 2017 Exhibition Calendar. Each chosen exhibit will be on display for approximately 30 days.

The gallery encourages emerging artists and fresh challenging work in all media, including installation works. Proposals should include a paragraph or two about your vision for an exhibit, as well as five jpg images which represent your current work.

Proposals incorporating the work of two artists or a small group are also acceptable. Artists who have not shown in the gallery before will be given priority consideration.

All proposals must be submitted online.

Organizers ask, “Please let us know if your idea for an exhibit will require months to prepare or if you have calendar restrictions. We would also like to know if you could be ready to go quickly, as those early months are sometimes hard to fill.”

OkEq hosts the opening night reception for the artist(s), on the first Thursday of each month. Each exhibit is hung on the Tuesday prior. No additional work will be accepted after initial delivery. There will be a 30 percent commission on work sold.

Artists will be asked to provide a "door prize" which will be awarded by a drawing at the close of opening night. Artist will also provide “museum cards” for each piece, stating the title, and price, with other information being optional. A bio and artist statement is due to the OkEq gallery on the first of the month prior to the exhibit, for publicity purposes.

Deadline for submissions is October 15. Notifications will be sent out by OkEq by November 1, 2016.

Please submit by e-mail to jose.vega@okeq.org, with the subject heading “OkEq gallery proposal.”
