OKC Phil announces 2015-2016 season

(Oklahoma City, OK) From Classics to Pops to Children's Discovery programming there is something for everyone at the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

“With three fantastic subscription series expertly planned by Maestro Joel Levine, season ticket sales are very strong,” Eddie Walker, Executive Director of the Phil. “We have worked hard to build relationships across the city in the business community and with other arts organizations. Headlining the Phil’s Pops Series is Oklahoma's own Tony and Emmy Award winning singer and actress, Kristin Chenoweth who charismatically takes center stage, always delighting her audiences with her virtuosity, humor and style. Recently the master of ceremonies for the 2015 Tony Awards, in which she also received a nomination for her role in On the 21st Century, Kristin is now featured as Maleficent in the new Disney movie The Descendants.

The Phil’s Classics Season will be headlined by the incomparable Grammy award winning Emanuel Ax. Winner of the 1974 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition early in his career, additional awards include the Michaels Award for Young Concert Artists and the coveted Avery Fisher Prize. A Sony Classical exclusive recording artist since 1987, recent releases include Mendelssohn Trios with Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman and Strauss's Enoch Arden narrated by Patrick Stewart.

Inasmuch Foundation Classics highlights include Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite, Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2, Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, Berlioz' Symphony Fantastique, a special Night at the Opera with Sarah Coburn and so much more. Our Chickasaw Nation Pops Season features The Music of the Eagles, The Christmas Show, Music of Les Miserables, The Name's Bond. James Bond, FM Radio Hits and series highlight, Oklahoma's own Kristin Chenoweth! And don't forget the E.L. and Thelma Gaylord Discovery Family Series featuring pre-show, hands-on musical enrichment activities and family friendly concerts including The Wild, Wild West, Celebrate Black History and Peter and the Wolf and Friends.
