Two of Wichita's favorite funny men are together again this Holiday Season. “The show is quick and witty, very upbeat, and focuses heavily on harmony. These two boys sing so well together,” says John Hammer, owner of Roxy’s Downtown, where The Kyle and Monte Christmas Musical plays through December 23.

Monte Wheeler and Kyle Vestestad have been performing together for 20 years, says Hammer. “As a comedic team, you couldn’t ask for more. They are most definitely two of Wichita’s most favorite guys on stage.” The Roxy’s production is the premiere of The Kyle and Monte Christmas Musical. The duo has done other reviews and is well known in the Wichita area.

Hammer is obviously excited to be presenting the show. “It goes from comedy skits, to slapstick to very wonderful moments,” he says. “There is audience participation. One skit is a game show, and we bring audience members on stage to participate and win prizes.”

He is particularly fond of the duo’s medleys. “Their melodies are very well known here in town, where they string one song right into the next in harmony. There is dancing and choreography. They have been doing this for 20 years so it’s a great fit. They have awesome voices, which is why it is so great to have them together on stage.”

In addition to Kyle and Monte, there are two guest stars: Dillon Mark Lewis, who was most recently in Roxy’s production of Reefer Madness, and Tom Frye. Hammer says of Frye, “He’s been in Wichita doing theatre for 45 years. Everybody knows Tom.”

Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. Beginning December 7, a Wednesday 8 p.m. performance is added. Tickets are $20 through $30, with students $10 less and can be purchased by phone at (316) 265-4400. Performances are catered by Stroud’s, famous for their fried chicken. Meals are not included in the ticket price, and having a meal is not a requirement. Roxy’s Downtown is located at 412 1/2 E. Douglas, in Wichita.

Brace yourself for this once in a lifetime interactive theatrical experience, celebrating all holiday traditions. You'll like it, even if you're Jewish.
