You’ve heard of her. 15-year-old Jazz Jennings is the transgender activist taking over both book stores and television with her book-turned-TLC-docu-series I Am Jazz. Tonight, Wednesday, June 8, Jennings returns to television with the second season of this riveting chronicle of her experience as a transgender teen.

Jennings’ book and show I Am Jazz increases awareness of transgender people and promotes a fair and healthy environment for everyone. Her community readings of the book are a “call to action to support transgender youth,” says the HRC, as Jennings has teamed up with the HRC Foundation’s Welcoming Schools project, the National Education Association and the National Coalition Against Censorship.

Jennings has a second book out, too – Being Jazz: My Life as a (Transgender) Teen, which was released yesterday, Tuesday, June 7.

Since Season One of I Am Jazz, Jennings has since spoken at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation third annual Time to THRIVE Conference. Her role as an HRC Youth Ambassador has helped her to promote “safety, inclusion and well-being for LGBTQ youth,” highlighting “the need for transgender inclusion in schools and the importance of LGBTQ acceptance,” according to the HRC.

Jennings is an honorary co-founder of TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation and has a number of accolades, such as being recognized by GLAAD and being one of TIME magazine’s “25 Most Influential Teens of 2014.”
